Our Salford Lifestyle Coach has been working with Jack (18) from Ordsall.
Jack’s Mum Leanne met our Salford Lifestyle Coach at an open day organised for new students interested in Chatsworth Futures, a specialist college based in Swinton.
Jack has autism and has a weakness in his legs which makes standing extremely difficult. His Mum has to transfer him to and from his wheelchair which he uses the majority of the time.
At Jack’s initial assessment, he expressed an interest in visiting the gym. Our Salford Lifestyle Coach was able to help arrange a gym pass for him.
Jack has worked very hard during his 8 weeks with Empower You and has gone from strength to strength. He has willingly had a go at several different exercises that he would not have necessarily have attempted previously. His strength and overall fitness have increased and he is continuing to attend sessions at the gym at least three times a week.
Jack and his Leanne were both very appreciative of our support, although Leanne feels very strongly that 8 weeks of support is not long enough. She is currently speaking with Jack’s social worker to see if she can get some extra financial support via direct payments to cover the cost of our community outreach programme, so that Jack can work with us on a longer term basis.
